Borgo Pignano wedding photographer – Ellie & Chad

Ellie and Chad’s wedding at Borgo Pignano

Borgo Pignano is a private estate in the hills outside Volterra, in the countryside between Florence and the coast.

Ellie and Chad chose it for a wedding with their closest friends around them, and a few days in Tuscany that felt more like a stay than a single event.

They were a quiet, composed couple, not the kind who want to be the centre of attention. That suited me.
I kept my distance, watched, and let the day unfold.

It all started the afternoon before, by the pool, with friends arriving from different places and finally all together. Nobody was thinking about the camera yet, which is exactly when I like to photograph.

The ceremony was on the stone staircase of the villa, with the guests gathered below. Dinner followed under a marquee in the garden in front of the villa, and then the party moved inside, to a small room where the music started. Ellie and Chad had brought paper masks for everyone, and within minutes half the guests were dancing as someone else.

Wedding Venue

Borgo Pignano, near Volterra: the venue

Borgo Pignano is a country estate a short drive from Volterra, surrounded by open countryside.
The villa’s wide stone staircase works beautifully for a ceremony, with the facade behind the couple and room for guests below.

The garden in front of the villa can host dinner under a marquee, and there are indoor rooms for dancing, so the evening doesn’t depend on the weather.

There’s also a pool, perfect for a relaxed afternoon with your guests before the wedding. For portraits, the fields around the estate give clean backgrounds and soft light in the hour before sunset.
If you’re also looking at villas near Siena, have a look at Villa Catignano, or visit the Borgo Pignano website.
